Longer version (includes filmography):

Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris,France on April 15, 1990. She was the first child of Jacqueline and Chris Watson who both are lawyers. Emma's little brother Alex was born three years later. Her parents got divorced few years after Alex's birth and now Emma lives with her mother and younger brother in Oxford.

In September 1995, Emma attended Lynam's, the pre prep of Dragon School. She moved in September of 1998 to the Dragon School. While she's not filming, Emma enjoys playing hockey and dancing most of all. She has said, that the biggest difference between Hermione and her is that she's far more athletic than Hermione. She also enjoys debating.

At school, Emma took part in several plays, most of the time playing the lead role. Plays in which she starred where such as 'Arthur: The Young Years' and 'The Happy Prince'. Instead of just starring in school plays she took part also in many other school productions and events, like the Daisy Pratt Poetry Competition, in which she won the first place for her year at age seven.

While searching the stars for Harry Potter movies, the casting team looked kids from ordinary schools to audition. Emma decided to give it a try and competing against many other girls she did not expect to get the part of Hermione Granger. After several auditions she was called to David Heyman's office and sat down with a boy called Rupert Grint. There they were told that they'd been cast to play the roles of Hermione and Ron. In 2001, Emma made her debut on screen, when Harry Potter and The Philosopher's/Sorcerer's Stone was released. People all around the world loved the movie and the trio, Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint and Emma Watson, were cast to play their characters also in the second movie, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets which was released in 2002. After the release, Emma visited several talk shows and events and was nominated for many awards.

In June 2004, the third Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban was released and Emma returned to big screen as the clever witch Hermione. Since May, she has had a lot of TV appearances and interviews. We have also the confirmation, that Emma, like Daniel and Rupert, is going to play Hermione at least one more time. All three Potter stars have signed to be part of the cast of the fourth Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. Rumors also tell, that Emma was the last one to sign and that she is the one who considers most carefully whether to play in the movie or not. However, Emma is still going to be in the fourth movie and they have already started shooting it.

Goblet of Fire climbed to the top with almost no competition. Emma continued to shine playing Hermione Granger along side with Rupert Grint and Daniel Radcliffe. With more publicly than ever, Emma decided to stick with the Harry Potter series. She signed to play Hermione again in Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix which started filming in February 2006. The film is set to be released on July 11, 2007 in the United States and United Kingdom.

Shortly after wrapping up promotions for Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Emma announced that she will be taking part in a BBC One movie special. Emma plays Pauline Fossil (the eldest of three orphaned sisters) in Ballet Shoes. The movie was broadcasted on December 26, 2007 to an audience of 5.2 million. However, slightly before the release, filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince began in September of 2007.

Keeping herself busy with Ballet Shoes and Harry Potter, Emma found the time to take on another project called The Tale of Despereaux. It was Emma's first animated role. On December 19, 2008, The Tale of Despereaux was released and grossed over US $86,869,305 worldwide.

During her free time, Emma began to show her love for fashion. She attended various fashion shows. In May of 2008, Emma completed filming for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. Probably during this time, Emma took her A level examinations in English Literature, Geography and Art and recieved A's on all three.
With a well deserved break, Emma returned in February 2009 to the Harry Potter set to film Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

Following her love for fashion, it was confirmed in June 2009 that Emma would model for Burberry's Autumn/Winter 2009 collection. Towards the end of June, Emma Watson prepared for the July 15th 2009 release of Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. During the premieres in London and New York City, Emma revealed she had plans to attend a University in the US.

On September 7th 2009, Emma confirmed on her official website that she would be attending Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island of the US. With her strong desire for a normal life, Emma will begin her school year on September 9, 2009.
